It’s an exciting time to be a part of Newcrest’s growth journey as we expand our operations both locally and abroad. At Cadia you will play a part in the expansion of our Tier 1 operation developing Cadia into one of the largest, safest, most cost effective and technologically advanced block caving mines in the world. Currently we are undertaking stage three of Cadia’s mine life strategy by further developing our underground mine to include its 3rd panel, as well as increasing our ore handling and processing capability.

Operations near and far

Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional town of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by winery’s, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Employees have access to the area’s wide range of amenities, including a prominent health sector with a modern well-equipped regional hospital, excellent educational facilities, shopping, large selection of sport and recreation options, transport and other services such as childcare.

Who we’re looking for

Reporting into the Mine Infrastructure and Contracts Superintendent, an opportunity has arisen for a motivated Civil Services Supervisor to lead and support a high performing team accountable for the safe delivery of the civil-services mine plan. This includes but is not limited to the management of personnel/process involved in Civil Services, Road Maintenance, Stores and Development activities.

Key responsibilities include;

  • Promote and maintain a culture of ‘safe production’ by compliance with company safety systems, policies, procedures and accountabilities.
  • Promoting and actively participating in business improvements and ideas
  • Responsible for achieving daily, monthly and yearly budget and schedule outcomes
  • Ensuring all incidents, near misses and hazards are reported and escalated

You’ll have an NSW Mine Supervisors certificate and extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience working in an underground metalliferous mining environment. A substantial amount of this time needs to have been in a Supervisory capacity. Ideally you will also have the following;

  • Proven track record in promoting and managing safety in the workplace
  • Extensive experience in Mine-Civil Services and development activities
  • Demonstrated experience in the scheduling of equipment and personnel to maximise efficiencies to achieves weekly plan outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience liaising with operational departments to maximise development outcomes

Please note: This is a fixed term contract based in Orange, NSW on 7 days on/ 7 days off/ 7 Nights on/ 7 off roster. FIFO or DIDO will be considered.
