The Role

Based at our Port Gregory Operation, the Junior Mining Engineer/ Graduate Mining Engineer will provide safe, sustainable, and efficient support to mining and exploration activities. You will be liaising with the Mine Technical, Production and Plant team members including contractors. The role will assist Port Gregory to achieve industry best practice in collecting, analyzing, and reporting geological, production and mine survey data. This includes maintaining quality control processes and procedures where applicable.

Key areas of responsibility will include but not be limited to;

  • Input into generating monthly, weekly, and daily mine plans aligned with the annual plan.
  • Input into database management for Mine Planning purposes including block model interrogation, reporting and reconciliation.
  • Oversee the collection and validation of mining fleet performance data and input of data into the central database for reporting.
  • Input into the generation of site wide daily production reports.
  • Maintain up to date expenditure costs for each tenement for DMP reporting.
  • Report any adverse trends from operations that may impact the licence requirements for the site.
  • Input into project work as directed by Mine Manager including data management, reporting and systems development.
  • Oversee and assist with drill programs, sample analysis and reporting.

About You

We are looking for a self-starter who is motivated to and able to work independently in a small technical team. In addition to the above the ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Encompass GMA’s core values of Teamwork, Care, Trust and Excellence in everyday work and behaviours.
  • BE, BSc or equivalent in Geology, Mining Engineering or Surveying.
  • Good computer literacy.
  • Sound communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Environmental monitoring experience (desirable).
  • Current manual drivers licence.

This role is an exciting opportunity to work in a small team and gain exposure to the entire mining and processing lifecycle in a global market leader. GMA is willing to support a graduate development including providing work experience in production related activities to assist the incumbent in gaining a QM certificate (WA)
