Graduate Civil Engineer – WS989

Fixed Term Position to January 2023

Salary: $59,706.96 - $83,159.75 pro-rata per annum

Location: Council Chambers, 119 – 145 Spence Street, Cairns

Primary Objectives of the position:-

  • To provide technical, administrative and professional assistance in the planning and management of operational activities.
  • To follow council’s Graduate Development Program towards becoming eligible for Chartered Membership of Engineers Australia.
  • To obtain suitably documented undergraduate experience to meet university requirements as well as to provide technical, administrative and professional assistance in the delivery of capital works and planning and management of operational activities under direct supervision.
  • To provide technical, administrative and professional assistance in the delivery of capital works and planning and management of operational activities.
  • To have a documented career history in civil engineering in preparation for application for RPEQ registration

To be successful in this role you must have:- 

  • A Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Current class C drivers licence.
  • Proficient with information systems such as MSWord, MSExcel and MSProject.
  • An understanding of civil engineering design, construction or maintenance principles.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and build strong working relationships.
  • Sound level of oral and written communication skills, including research and report writing.
