About The Role

Reporting into the Maintenance Department the Electrical Reliability Engineer will be responsible for the identification and implementation of improvement opportunities associated with the site electrical systems. Defect identification and elimination will be a key focus of the role.

Your exposure working with tools such as SAP, Asset Performance Management Software, continuous improvement and root cause analysis systems will assist you to carry out the objectives set out in this position. Continuous improvement techniques are also an essential requirement or this role.

This challenging role is based at out Hay Point Coal Terminal located 35 km east of Mackay in Queensland Offered on a residential 5x2 roster. This is a great opportunity to utilise your expansive reliability skills as you gain exposure to one of the most desirable working locations in Queensland.

About The Role

  • Leads & implement local improvement initiatives through benchmarking, data analysis, & applying new technology;
  • Provide input to the Maintenance & Capital Budget from life cycle cost analysis outcomes & equipment condition to support whole of life asset strategy;
  • Proactively detects early equipment condition deterioration & performance deviations from monitoring systems & trend analysis to initiate defect elimination actions;
  • Lead root cause analysis (e.g. 5 Whys, RCA, Apollo, Causal Tree, Fish-bone) for asset failures;
  • Analyse performance data to identify & implement reliability improvement initiatives;
  • Provide technical input & optimisation of the maintenance strategies for equipment across site electrical assets; and
  • Key interface with the MeCOE Strategy Optimisation teams & with the site engineering teams.


About You
  • A self-motivated professional, able to collaborate with & influence others to achieve reliability goals & targets;
  • Electrical engineering qualification or an electrical trade qualification with relevant reliability & asset management experience within a heavy industrial environment.
  • Proven industry experience with a track record of defect elimination & root cause analysis practise is required;
  • Analytical & problem solving skills.
  • Experience with SAP & or other CMMS & excel skills are essential;
  • Extensive, technical expertise in the ‘whole of life’ maintenance of fixed plant & equipment
    • Control Systems experience would be highly regarded.
    • Experience in developing & implementing asset management strategies.
    • Experience in Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis.
