Business Need / Purpose of Role

The GEHO Aftermarket Manager is responsible for managing the aftermarket GEHO spares in the Australasia region. This position includes a high level of communication and leadership between management, sales, client and crews. The GEHO Aftermarket Manager will take an active role in supporting existing GEHO customers spares needs as well as identifying further opportunities at their operations. They will provide technical support to GEHO customers in their region and drive projects that add value to satisfy our customers.

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities

To support the Weir Minerals business by providing:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance for all elements of the GEHO business including Aftermarket equipment supply.
  • Distributor Management including technical support, stock keeping/forecasting and supporting them on a range of responsibilities, inc;

  1. Inspection of the pump system when visiting customers and discuss their performance as well as the use of spare parts and wear life. Advices on solutions for technical problems and possible under performance of spare parts.
  2. Evaluate the use of spare parts and the performance of GEHO pump systems, assess and advise customers on the minimally required spare parts levels.
  3. Assess and advise whether improvements in the performance of the pump systems are possible and indicate which technological developments are available for the further improvement for increased reliability of the systems.
  4. Ensure customer complaints about the delivery of parts, performance of the pump systems and warranty cases, mentioned during visits or otherwise, will be brought to the attention of the responsible department(s).
  5. Promote Service Level Agreements (SLA's) and long term spare parts agreements, draw up contracts and ensure these are realized by Weir.
  6. Promote extra services whilst visiting the customer, such as maintenance inspections by GEHO service engineers and the possibility for additional training for operators or maintenance staff and the options for training seminars either onsite or supported by Weir Minerals Australia
  • Provide expert level onsite and remote support in for GEHO regarding performance, maintenance and usage of parts
  • Interpret drawings and specifications, and provide advice on GEHO engineering methods and procedures to achieve production requirements
  • Provide Technical & Operational product training to customers, clients and Weir local businesses
  • Analyses the market trends and potential for GEHO Aftermarket and Service Opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships on management (C) level with contractors, end-users and owners in the mining and minerals processing industry
  • Analyses competitor developments and safeguards or increases the GEHO market share
  • Liaise regularly with management and staff of Weir Minerals Australia to actively safeguard the GEHO Aftermarket business
  • Reporting to the WMNL sales business by means of AM reports, CRM updates and market plans.
  • Create a relationship with the customer through face-to-face contact, fostering trust and reliability.
  • Provide technical advice/liaison/support to customers with regular updates to the DCO
  • Working supervision of resources to execute tasks and activities to meet project deadlines/milestones
  • Management of budgets and planning

Additional Tasks;

  • Take on the role of project manager during large scale maintenance and modification of systems, if required by the customer
  • Support Integrated Solution projects at existing GEHO customers aswell as any identified mine sites that may benefit from a changed process incorporating GEHO pumps.
  • Work with Weir Minerals stakeholders to identify these operations and help build a business case to promote an Integrated Solution.

Job knowledge / Other requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or Mining or
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant technical/trades experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant sales experience.
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Prior experience in similar role or with Distributorship management skills is highly encouraged.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
Intermediate to advanced MS Office (Excel and Word), Email

Physical Demands:
Passing of Weir Medical requirements to include, Standing and walking for up to 12 hours per day. Repetitive upper and lower limb use.

Work Environment:
Loud, outdoor weather conditions, work in high places and confined spaces and remote regions. Appropriate PPE to be worn at all times.
