Golder has a new full-time opportunity within our Mining team for an Environmental Engineer – Mine Closure, based in Perth. The role includes assisting in developing final landforms for rehabilitation and planning for closure across Australia and internationally. You will have excellent communication skills and solutions-focused mindset.

Key Duties And Responsibilities Will Include

  • Assisting in developing final landforms for rehabilitation incorporating both traditional engineering linear designs and non-linear geomorphic designs;
  • Assisting with planning for closure and integrating life of mine designs;
  • Undertaking material characterization in terms of soils erodibility and suitability for use;
  • Assisting with hydraulic assessments of landform and river systems to understand and manage long term stability, and possible mitigation measures;
  • Carrying out projects under the general direction of senior engineers and consultants while supervising and directing contractors including civil earthworks projects;
  • Undertaking data assessment and interpretation using Excel, curve fitting, and other applicable methods;
  • Preparing technical deliverables such as proposals, reports, drawings and specifications under senior review;
  • Conducting all work to satisfy all company, client and government conditions, policies, procedures, regulations and standards and other duties as required.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering or equivalent and experience with 3D modelling tools including at least one of Deswik, Civil 3D, Carlson, or 12D
  • A hydrological background and an understanding of geomorphic studies on landforms, river systems or related water driven work.
  • Demonstrated experience in GIS and other data interpretation tools such as Surfer
  • Excellent interpersonal and ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to Occupational Health & Safety
