ABOUT THE ROLE

Infrastructure team members assist their communities every work day, whether it is building new assets including roads, drains or other amenities, or maintaining them. As an apprentice, you will be working across all facets which could include but not be limited to:

Maintenance and trimming for vegetation from roadsides
Maintenance of roads - both sealed and unsealed
Construction of assets including drains, car parks and footpaths
Ensuring the assets within our shire are kept at a high standard including responding to notifications of works required
Maintenance of plant and equipment used for the above tasks

While working and gaining practical experience, you will be also studying for a Certificate III in Civil Construction. The role will be fixed for a maximum of 3 years full time, with apprentice wages of First year of $30,392.44 starting salary paid with increases after the successful completion of each year.

The apprenticeship will be based primarily from either our Foster or Leongatha Depot, however you may be required to work from the alternative depot at times to ensure a good spread of experience and to meet the needs of our communities.

ABOUT YOU

You will be defined by two passions - Civil Construction and wanting to serve your community. You will not have completed any education of a Certificate III or higher in any discipline to be considered, however ideally would have completed your VCE or VCAL. As the role involves driving a number of manual vehicles, you will have your drivers licence with manual endorsement, or be very close to achieving this. You will have the ability to attend the training components of the apprenticeship which may involve some travel to other towns than where you reside. As you progress you will also have the ability to respond to after hours emergencies when required. Use of technology such as mobile phones and tablets is also a requirement of the role so you will have a good understanding of these.

To really stand out, you will also have some relevant work experience and may already have some tickets and qualifications in operation of some plant and equipment.
