As a world leader in its field, Arup offers the full spectrum of civil engineering consulting services. As part of the Civil Design team, this role covers a broad range of skills relating to civil infrastructure. In particular, the focus of the Civil Engineer is to undertake design and consulting services within Civil Infrastructure and related areas in order to enhance the team’s portfolio of skills and expertise.


About you

As a successful candidate for this role you will be able to demonstrate:

· Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil.

· Relevant industry experience in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on designing roads, drainage, water, sewer and WSUD elements within a consulting business environment.

· A minimum of 10 years of experience in delivering land development projects from concept design to site phase for clients such as DevelopmentWA, Metronet, PTA, Local Government Authorities or private developers.

· Experience in construction phase contract administration.

· Experience in the operation of software design tools including 12D, Civil3D or AutoCAD. As well as experience using hydraulic modelling packages would be an advantage.

· Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership.

· Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.

· Ability to communicate with people at all levels in both technical and non-technical environments.

· Effective written communication and report writing skills.

· Ability to maintain personal effectiveness particularly during periods of higher than normal workload.

· Ability to remain positively motivated and foster team spirit at times of significant pressure, including assisting others to meet deadlines.

· Desire to excel.



About the role

Reporting to the Perth Civil Infrastructure Team Leader, this role’s responsibilities include:

· Provision of concept design and technical consultation in areas such as earthworks, road design, pavement design, stormwater design, water and sewer reticulation etc.

· Working on small and medium sized projects, as well as being a key member of larger project groups. This will include design, technical documentation, cost estimates, tender submissions, project scheduling and meeting deadlines and budgets. The range of work will vary across Land Development, Aviation, Rail and Industrial projects.

· Work without supervision, referring up as necessary. The role is responsible for meeting deadlines, monitoring budgets and resourcing and controlling expenditure to meet financial targets of own area.

· Represent Arup at internal and external events and you may be responsible for designing and delivering events, activities and projects which impact the business.

· Performance and development of others through providing guidance, training, direction and feedback.

· Taking a longer-term strategic view of the business and contribute to the development plan of Arup.

· Possible input into setting budgets; and as such, responsible for negotiating agreements with customers and suppliers in order to achieve financial targets.
