About the Role

We are looking for a Human Factors Engineer to join the rail division of John Holland working on Victoria-based rail projects. As Human Factors Engineer you provide expert advice on human factors within the project across rail engineering safety and system assurance disciplines. Ensure effective identification of human factors risks/issues and pragmatic implementation of human factors design solutions within a project to the satisfaction of client and regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities of the role include;
• Provide subject matter expertise in human factors engineering across the organisation
• Ensure effective implementation of human factors as per project human factors implementation plan & aligned with AS7470
• Where required, engage/manage/provide evidence to stakeholders with respect to human factors
• Undertake engagement with safety regulatory bodies
• Provide support to risk assessment workshops on as required basis
• Help support the delivery of design packages with input into the HF aspects of the design
• Conduct/lead/facilitate all related activities under the HFIP/HFMP and EHFA
• Provide SFAIRP arguments to assurance case
• Provide input into the design solutions
• Provide SME advice to MOC/EC requests prior to submittal to BU
• Input into new maintenance/operational procedures/plan
• Provide SME support to risk assessment workshops
• Participate in Preparation for Day One included but not limited to input into the training needs analysis, user acceptance testing, HF support during commissioning, verification and validation requirements, Post implementation review MoC Form 3, collection HF lessons learned.

To be successful in this key role, you must have;

• Tertiary qualification in a related engineering discipline
• 2+ years’ experience within the railway industry.
• 8+ years’ human factors specialist experience.
• Working knowledge of ONRSR regulations, disability legislations, Worksafe codes and practices.
• Working knowledge of human factors related standards including ISO 18529, ISO 9241, Australian lighting standards, Australian Fire safety standards such as AS 4825, and AS 2293.1.
