JOB DESCRIPTION
Spanning more than 1,700km, the Australian Government is delivering Inland Rail through the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC), in partnership with the private sector.
The Narrabri to North Star (N2NS) section is one of 13 projects that complete Inland Rail and is an upgrade of approximately 188 km of track within the existing rail corridor and construction of approximately 1.6 km of new rail track. The works are required to accommodate the operation of future planned 1,800 m double-stacked freight trains.
The contract for the delivery of Narrabri to North Star (N2NS) was awarded to Trans4m Rail in November 2020. Trans4m Rail combines the experience of John Holland and SEE Civil Pty Ltd.
About the Role
Trans4M Rail has commenced mobilisation and we now have multiple opportunities for Site Engineers with Drainage experience to join the team on this iconic Inland Rail Project.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme and report to the Project Engineer
- Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs, and specifications
- Assist with the preparation of site construction budgets and reports
- Conduct and manage quality assurance including site inspections
- Interpret design documentation and its implementation within the project
- Contribute to improvements to existing designs
- Arrange and oversee the procurement of tenders
- Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen when making decisions
- Execute working knowledge of contractual and legislative requirements relevant to the project
- Undertake regular quantitative and qualitative health, safety, environmental, and quality risk assessments to ensure acceptable project outcomes
Skills and experience required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- 2-5 years’ experience within a Site Engineer role with one or more of the following skillsets; Earthwork or Drainage
- Effective planning, organising and problem-solving skills
- Strong and Effective communication skills
- Proven time management skills and practices
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
