JOB DESCRIPTION

Naval Group Australia (NGA) is seeking a Supportability Engineer to join the Future Submarine program. The largest and most ambitious defence acquisition program Australia has ever undertaken. Professional challenges don’t come any bigger than this.

Reporting to the Submarine Construction Yard (SCY) Readiness Manager, the role will involve coordinating the development and implementation of the various supportability plans which help sustain the SCY system, which encompasses infrastructure, equipment, resources, IT and management systems. The role will lead the initial development of a “fit for purpose” supportability system, and ensure that is approved, deployed and maintained effectively. The role will also act as a key link between the Operations team and the rest of the business in relation to supportability activities.



More specifically, the Supportability Engineer will:

  • Lead the development of the supportability plan, which will include liaising with key internal stakeholders to determine the supportability approach to each of the SCY system elements.
  • Work with the SCY Infrastructure and Equipment teams to ensure the necessary logistical information is acquired from the relevant suppliers to support the development of the supportability plan.
  • Liaise with the relevant stakeholders to coordinate the approval and execution of the supportability plan.
  • During deployment, identify and record changes to the supportability plan, and ensure such changes are supported by the appropriate approvals.

To be successful in this position, the role suites a candidate that is:

  • Tertiary qualified in an Engineering disciple or relevant production experience.
  • Extensive experience working in a maritime construction of high complexity engineering manufacturing environment, working on a complex platform construction or sustainment program, and contributing to the development of sustainability systems.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to manage stakeholders and develop strong working relationships with a wide range of teams and individuals.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to perform well under pressure and achieve organisational outcomes.
