About Your Role
Thales works on complex Air Traffic Management (ATM) projects across the globe. This is a permanent role within the Bids team supporting the ATM bids where you will be the primary contact point for all Hardware Infrastructure, Network and Deployment Engineering activities on Airspace Management Systems (AMS) bids and is to fulfil a Solution & Estimation Lead role for bid activities.
As such, the Bid Hardware Solution engineering lead is an experienced Hardware Engineer who, on any given bid, is able to respond and lead on the majority of Hardware infrastructure, Network and System Deployment topics. An important quality of the position holder is knowing when to consult and seek input from the Hardware Subject Matter Experts on particular topics during the bid.
The Bid Hardware Solution Engineering Lead is responsible to:
Ensure the Hardware and Deployment solution is defined and properly documented. In particular:
Create and manage system architecture diagrams
Create the List of Supply (LOS) / Bill of Materials (BOM)
Define system interfaces
Define the console, rack, equipment installation and cabling needs for the solution
Contribute to definition of the workshare and responsibilities of industrial partners and sub-contractors for the bid
Other HDI artefacts required by the bid
Create and manage the Hardware and System Deployment Engineering Cost Estimate
Define and propose innovative solutions that meet the needs of the customer
Document and provide Justification of selected architectures
With Bid Manager, bid SEM, define the HW and System Deployment (SD) workshare for the bid; in particular the use of sub-contractors/ KIPs for installation services
Arbitrate the technical and technological choices proposed by SMEs, to obtain the best compromise between the requirements, the technical solution, cost and risks.
Take ownership and accountability for the bid Hared W and SD solution and its evolution through bid, to deliver to project a commercially competitive, viable and deliverable Hardware solution.
Identify, propose and implement improvements to the bid process, including but not limited to Hardware and SD activities and processes
How About You?
Good level of knowledge of, and experience with, the UNIX/LINUX (Redhat distribution preferred) Operating System, including Kernel configuration and performance tuning.
Good experience in system requirement analysis, system interface design and distributed architectures.
Familiarity with a wide range of Computer and Networking hardware (preferably Cisco), UNIX/Linux System Administration level
Detailed knowledge of engineering documentation
MS Visio experience
Advanced reporting and stakeholder management skills
Work Experience in a mission-critical, near real-time environment highly desirable
Experience in large and distributed networked computer systems & CISCO CCN qualification, highly desirable
