The opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Systems Engineer to join our Phantom Works team in Brisbane. This is a key technical position responsible for analysis, design and development on a strategically important program.

You will work collaboratively across an interdisciplinary and multinational team on cutting edge systems, and developing exciting new technologies, to support and grow Australia's defence capability.

This exciting role will see you at the centre of engineering activities being undertaken to develop capability for Boeing's Airpower Teaming System.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert level systems engineering design and development of assigned subsystems
  • Development and integration of systems and tools that support integration of programmable avionics systems into wider (aircraft) systems.
  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to requirements development and management including analysis of functional and non-functional requirements, functional performance specifications, architecture and interfaces to develop effective solutions for complex systems.
  • Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders and SME's across technical engineering and specialty areas to develop innovative solutions that provide capability in support of the users concept of operations
  • Demonstrate leadership in development, review and approval of engineering documentation and designs while providing mentoring of less experienced staff 

Experience/Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, methodologies, tools and practices to delivering complex integrated systems engineering programs
  • Demonstrated experience in grasping complex scenarios and translating them into innovative and ingenious solutions
  • Experience in hardware, firmware and software integration and troubleshooting (mandatory) combined with development experience with various military and civilian networking protocols.
  • Exposure to time critical systems where software and firmware development is done in accordance with MIL-STDs (highly desirable)
  • Knowledge/experience in model based systems engineering methodologies, tools and practices, including awareness/experience with SysML, DOFAF, TOGAF and UAF (desirable)
  • Tertiary degree in engineering with relevant discipline experience. (RPEQ &/or CPEng desirable)
  • Obtain and maintain an NV-1 clearance as a minimum
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.
