City Construction manages the implementation of capital works such as road reconstruction and rehabilitation, stormwater drainage, pathways, foreshore stabilisation and land rehabilitation throughout the City. Leading a team of construction professionals, you will be responsible for the programming and efficient delivery of approx. $40M of works allocated each year, ensuring close collaboration with key stakeholders associated with project delivery.

This Exciting Role Will

  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to the Construction Works Team
  • Manage the efficient programming of capital works
  • Undertake project construction cost estimates and the administration and continuous review of the estimating system
  • Maintain Council’s civil construction estimating system
  • Monitor and report on KPIs for the Construction Team and support the development and implementation of initiatives to improve performance
  • Manage Contracts and Contractors including the preparation and assessment of tenders, technical specifications, and contracts
  • Ensure the effective management, reuse or disposal of civil construction materials
  • Support the post-construction review of projects to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Facilitate the introduction of new technologies and materials into the workplace
  • You will hold Degree qualifications or experience in a relevant or complimentary discipline such as asset management, civil engineering or project management
  • Extensive experience in the delivery management of civil construction programs will see you stand out from the crowd
  • Your previous work history will display experience in the administration of estimating systems and the continuous review and update of unit rates
  • You will have a passion for developing and maintaining trusting and cooperative relationships with employees, customers and suppliers
  • Previously working within the civil construction industry will display your extensive experience in the management of contracts, including material supplies, contractors, subcontractors, and consultants
  • As a senior leader your forward-thinking, open-minded approach will ensure you can work within established procedures, while challenging the “norms”, and be productive and efficient in your decisions
  • Displaying a positive attitude, you are a fast learner and welcome any challenge that comes your way
  • Hold a minimum of a current Class C drivers licence
  • Salary per annum $117,345 to $126,332 plus 12% superannuation
  • Work in a high performing team
