The Electrical Engineering Manager is mainly responsible for the leadership of a small, yet extremely impactful team of electrical engineers developing complete electrical systems and sub-systems for ResMed devices.

The primary objective of this role is to provide people leadership to the team, enabling an open, collaborative, and positive working environment where all team members are empowered to do their best work. You will provide technical project leadership, liaise with stakeholders across the business and with external suppliers and partners.

Let’s talk about responsibilities:

  • Project coordination with internal and external stakeholders

  • Working with project teams, discipline and project managers to effectively plan and prioritise work and resources across electrical engineering projects

  • Defining and documenting engineering and project requirements and deliverables,

  • Communicate proactively with peers and business stakeholders to optimise development progress and to remove roadblocks.

  • Building effective relationships with all team members, able to effectively prepare and deliver actionable developmental feedback, act as a mentor or coach to team members depending on the circumstances, and provide talent review feedback at an organisational level

  • Work collaboratively with other discipline managers to ensure that product integration progresses in sync with other disciplines and the technical challenges are managed across discipline boundaries.

  • Ensure that the electrical engineering teams are equipped to implement their designs efficiently, on time, while minimising the impact of unexpected technical issues.

  • Drive a pragmatic approach to problem solving during electrical product development and product implementation

  • Ensure that sound and timely decisions are made using effective judgement based on quality, business efficiency and commercial considerations.

  • People administration and management activities for direct team – pay reviews, annual leave, workforce planning and recruitment

  • Ensure engineering rigour and compliance to product development process including leverage of best practices from external suppliers and manufacturers.

  • Drive operational excellence improvements particularly in the electrical domain.

  • Maintain electrical engineering technical skills and knowledge and awareness of technical improvements.

  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability for project deliverables

  • Work pragmatically with project contributors to manage the inevitable competing workloads and resource constraints to obtain the best outcomes of the business

Let’s talk about Qualifications and Experience:

To get us really excited, you have an Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree or equivalent and an extensive knowledge of electronic and electrical components and electronic design technologies.

You have substantial industry experience in a product development environment creating high quality, volume products, preferably in a medical device or other industry where product quality is most important

You are an energetic and passionate people leader with prior experience in managing and leading technical teams. You have developed and mentored technical people in your previous roles.

Preference will be given to candidates with a great mix of people, technical, project management, and business acumen. Experience working directly with EMS providers to deliver complex projects is also highly valued.
