JOB DESCRIPTION
Business Need / Purpose of Role
The Engineering Change Lead drives the development, implementation and continuous improvement of best practice engineering tools, systems and processes across the Minerals Division. The role is also responsible for defining engineering configurations and monitoring the global use, re-use and compliance of the Division Technology product ranges across the Division.
Engineering Change
- Support the roll-out of the Global Engineering Design Request system and supporting engineering processes throughout the Division
- Support the Technology Groups to define the configuration of their global product ranges
- Ensure compliance to a defined engineering change process which maximizes knowledge sharing and re-use while minimizing waste due to engineering error.
Engineering Best Practice
- Develop, implement and continuously improve the Engineering Best Practice framework
- Audit both Technology Group and Regional Engineering teams against the Engineering Best Practice guidelines
- Develop automated engineering processes and approvals in the Office365 environment
Engineering Systems
- Work with the Engineering Systems team to co-ordinate the policies, procedures and training required to support the enterprise engineering systems (CAD, PLM).
- Work with Global Process Owners to ensure engineering input to business activities is standardized and automated where required
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. A second language would be highly desirable.
Mathematical:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
Project Management, Spreadsheet, Word Processing, M365, Teamcenter and Nx
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
CPEng or equivalent would be desirable.
Physical Demands:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Work Environment:
Moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic)
