About the Company:

Work for an upcoming software development company in the facial recognition space. Based in the Sydney CBD, they provide a cloud based face recognition service which integrates with other systems such as temperature reading and people counting.

Their software and on-edge devices are experiencing increasing demand thanks to current world events and the ever-evolving modern workplace and are looking for a DevOps engineer to develop and manage infrastructure and help take the company to the next level - global!

About the role

As a DevOps Engineer, we are looking for someone who will:

  • Build and maintain infrastructure - Developing and maintaining critical infrastructure to support our current and ongoing needs.
  • Support and troubleshoot - Provide direct and responsive support for urgent needs
  • Working together as a team - Work with others on the project to brainstorm about the best way to tackle complex technological infrastructure, security, or development problems. You will participate in architecture and software development activities, working closely to meet the needs of stakeholders
  • Be opinionated but pragmatic - As a growing company, we are building a pragmatic team that can weigh up the many and growing needs of the business when making decisions
  • Be comfortable coding - Use coding languages or scripting methodologies to solve a problem with a custom workflow

Skills and experience

  • 2+ years experience
  • Experience with the AWS stack
    • Maintaining an existing stack or building from scratch
    • Any experience with cross region deployments a bonus
  • Automate all the things
    • Experience with automation of platforms using Terraform, CloudFormation or similar. Building pipelines for services comes naturally
    • Comfortable programming in Python. Familiarity with other languages like Java and Scala is a bonus
    • Experience administering and deploying development CI/CD tooling, such as Bamboo or BuildKite
    • Handling and building on microservices architecture
  • Good understanding of SQL and database design
  • Experience with various flavours of Linux and Windows operating system environments
  • Familiarity with container orchestration services like Docker Swarm or Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with logging tools like Datadog or similar
