Technical Support and Field Engineer

We are seeking a person with experience working with electronic or intelligent systems in either the mining or industrial sectors. This person must have excellent communication skills and an aptitude for problem solving. The ideal candidate will have a proven aptitude for learning new technologies and be interested in gaining an expert technical and operational knowledge of AMT’s guidance systems.

The position

As a Technical Support and Field Engineer you will work directly with potash and soft rock mining companies to provide in-field support and advice on AMT’s Mining Guidance System (MGS). The MGS is our flagship product which combines robust hardware, high performance inertial sensors and geo-sensing technologies.


If successful, you will undertake the following responsibilities:


  • Respond to customer support enquiries
  • Guide customers through the install and setup procedure
  • Train customers on how the system works and how to use it
  • Train third party service personnel in diagnostics, maintenance, and system integration
  • Diagnose issues with the MGS (and identify incorrect customer usage of the system)
  • Test firmware changes and system updates
  • Provide input into the design and functionality of the system’s user interface
  • Retrieve, analyze, and interpret data from deployed systems to identify or diagnose possible issues and/or incorrect use of the system
  • Assist in developing automated systems to provide customers with regular system performance reports
  • Maintain positive working relationships with our customers
  • Occasionally travel to visit our domestic and international customers (but primarily work from Brisbane)
  • Uphold AMT standards of professionalism and integrity in all dealings with customers.


Essential requirements

  • 2+ years relevant industry experience (mining or industrial sector)
  • A relevant tertiary or trade qualification
  • Excellent communication skills and proven capacity to establish and maintain good relationships with customers
  • Proven aptitude for learning and understanding intelligent systems
