JOB DESCRIPTION

Our Port Kembla Asphalt business is looking for an organised, self-motivated and experienced individual. Boral is committed to people development and this exciting role, along with ongoing developments in the region, offers enormous potential to grow with our South Coast business.

As an Asphalt Paving Technician / Foreman, you will report to the Contracting Supervisor and provide leadership and supervision to the asphalt road surfacing team.

The main responsibilities of this role include planning and co-ordination of jobs including measure up, resource allocation, mix requirements, work methods and quality assurance; ensuring compliance with Dangerous Goods Act, EPA, TfNSW (formerly RMS) and WorkCover requirements and the training and mentoring of asphalt paving crew members in new skills.

Well-developed knowledge of and commitment to workplace safety, including practical working knowledge of OH&S and Environmental Policies and statutory requirements within the industry is a must.

To be successful in this position:

  • Those with trade qualifications, previous experience as a Team Leader, Foreman or Supervisor and industry experience/knowledge are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in the operation of a Paver, Screed Board, Roller and various contracting plant would be an advantage.
  • A valid Drivers' Licence is essential.
  • The ability to develop a workplace culture that is safe, productive, efficient and equitable.
  • A self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and ability to work unsupervised and to deadlines (including overtime when required).
  • Practical project management, reasoning and problem solving skills.
