Principal Engineer provides engineering support and advice for effective operation of Intelligent Transport Systems and Traffic Management Systems

In the role of Principal Engineer (Traffic Signal Technologies) you will provide engineering support and advice for the efficient and effective operation of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and traffic management systems.
As an Principal Engineer within Transport and Main Roads, you will primarily be involved in projects associated with ITS. You will be involved in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of these systems as well as the development of the specification of new technologies and standards.
The role is also required to program manage the delivery of multiple projects through the provision of technical expertise and the administration of contracts and support to the design, construction and maintenance processes.
Mandatory requirements:
- A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Discipline) or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks.
- Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) in one of the following three areas of engineering:
- Electrical
- Information, Technology and Telecommunications
- Information, Telecommunications and Electronics
- Current holder of car driver's licence.
- Intrastate and interstate travel may be required.
