Our Client

Located in Adelaide's Northern Suburbs our client have shown themselves to be a leader in the general engineering sector by manufacturing and supplying special purpose equipment and components to the Mining, Defence, Power and Water industries.


Due to growth within the company, there is an excellent opportunity for you to join the Purchasing team. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager and working within a busy project based factory environment, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your purchasing and negotiation skills on the constantly changing requirements of new components and materials for the variety of projects.


Job tasks and responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will be to :

  • Sourcing for components and materials
  • Sending RFQ's to suppliers
  • Raise Purchase orders for materials and subcontract items and chase delivery dates
  • Compare quotes and negotiate price and lead times.
  • Liaise closely with Estimating/Planning teams & other departments as required
  • Comply with Purchasing and Quality Procedures..

Skills and experience

Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following key attributes:

  • Proven experience in a purchasing role in the Engineering, Manufacturing or Industrial sector
  • Excellent customer service & communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Computer experience in using MS Office and ERP systems such as M1
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Able to work on multiple Projects/Sales Orders at the same time
  • Able to problem-solve effectively
  • High attention to detail
