About Your Role
The Hardware Engineer - Munitions is a key role within the Australian Munitions R&D team and is responsible for quickly driving these innovative solutions and future products toward industrialisation and ultimately market. This role also supports existing products in terms of reducing cost of non-quality, cost down of goods and continuous improvements, and is a fixed term 12-month opportunity with the potential of ongoing work.
Driving or actively participating in munitions product design projects
Delivering product designs to budget and schedule
Developing the skills and knowledge on munitions product design
Ensuring designs are capable of being readily industrialised and hence meet design for manufacture requirements
Lead or assist with product or process continuous improvement activities
How About You?
Degree qualified mechanical engineer, materials engineer, metallurgist or demonstrated equivalent experience
At least 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing, design or related industry in a professional role.
Knowledge and understanding of product design, industrialisation and manufacture
Interpersonal influence and stakeholder management skills, as well as the ability to work at multi-levels of the organisation
Knowledge of material selection, manufacturing techniques and technologies (highly desirable)
Computational modelling experience in areas of CFD, metal drawing and forming, aerodynamics and processing (desirable)
Knowledge of lean principles, waste reduction and process optimisation (desirable)
