About Your Role

As a Naval Architect, you are accountable for:

  • Performing design tasks and analyses appropriate to individual experience and specialised knowledge within the Naval Architecture discipline.
  • Working under broad professional guidance, independently or as a team member to ensure that design products comply with the technical requirements of the task and are performed within the allocated budget and schedule.
  • Attaining Thales engineering delegation to review and approve engineering products commensurate with the assessed risk and your level of experience. Working towards the attainment of “Designer” Signatory status in order to perform as a delegated Structural Design Authority for allocated programs and products ensuring that the responsibilities of the company for design certification and safety are fulfilled.
  • Working towards the attainment of Chartered status of IEAust or RINA.

How About You?

  • Appropriate tertiary level qualifications in Naval Architecture with at least 3 years relevant experience on major Defence projects.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications to qualify for membership of a professional institution.
  • Experience in design and integration of systems for Naval and Commercial vessels, including application of Naval and Classification Society rules and requirements.
  • Experience in systems engineering of complex programs.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to develop an effective network with key individuals
