About the Role: 

Due to on-going growth within our Growth and Future Networks Stations team, we now have a new opportunity for a Senior Secondary Engineer to come in and provide specialist engineering and technical support to the infrastructure teams and commercial teams, as well as the operation and maintenance activities within Mondo. 


You will be instrumental in the ongoing step change for commercial services growth and provide guidance to the greater team in mentoring as well as technical quality, technical compliance, performance, and value-for-money of all assets in the Contracted Asset Portfolio.


You will be working on large and small scale renewable and load connection project. Working collaboratively with large development companies to create innovative solution for connection into the national electricity grid.


What you will be delivering: 


  • Provide specialist technical, commercial and design advice to support Mondo’s growth within the secondary engineering discipline. 
  • Leading multi discipline design team as Project Lead including client interfacing.
  • Provide innovative and lateral thinking into electricity transmission solutions. 
  • Independently manage the development of tender and detailed designs, scopes, specifications and other project activities including workflows and the quality of work produced by others. 
  • Support Mondo on electrical engineering matters with our commercial partners, subcontractors and clients. 
  • Development and evaluation of project options for complex technical problems requiring inventiveness to depart from or adapt accepted practices and procedures. 
  • Development and evaluate risks associated with the development of new Terminal Station/Substation assets joining the existing unregulated infrastructure fleet. 
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of modern engineering standards and designs, to ensure network compliance with legal, technical regulatory and safety obligations while achieving growth targets 


You will be well versed in all things related to secondary engineering, as well as have an ability to successfully develop and maintain strong on-going relationships with key stakeholders and departments internally and externally. 


Skills and experience 

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering is required. 
  • Prior experience across secondary engineering design and construction with the business acumen and ability to meet engineering design excellence. 
  • Prior experience as project lead or design management delivering complex.
  • Extensive knowledge of secondary electrical equipment in respect to design (including protection settings), performance, functionality, operation, and maintenance as used in Terminal Stations and Substations rated at up to 500kV. 
  • Considerable knowledge of other engineering disciplines such as primary, communication and SCADA and their impacts on secondary design and equipment selection. 
  • Proven capability in developing conceptual plans into feasible designs and producing high quality design deliverables such as drawings and scope of works including management of budgets and schedules. 
  • Understanding key customer and shareholder needs and requirements including client interfacing. 
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with other project related disciplines such as communications, construction, property, Operational & Maintenance and other Network Service Providers. 
  • Prior experience in renewable projects and correspondence with AEMO would be an added advantage.
