About the role:

Joining our water consulting group will see you playing a significant role in developing our engineering geology capabilities in Queensland. In a close-knit and growing local office in Brisbane, you will be part of the much larger, national ground engineering team. Reporting to the water team leader, this role will require a balance of independence and collaboration in approach. Working with experienced team members and clients, your role would have you involved in exciting and diverse projects in a range of civil and water infrastructure.

The role will initially service water dam's infrastructure projects in Queensland and is designed for a 7 to 10 years of experience engineering geologist that can plan and conduct professional work without detailed supervision. The successful candidate would be responsible for the delivery and results of medium to large sized projects, representing Stantec in front of clients, consultants and contractors, as well as developing relationships and exploring opportunities. The role also requires the establishment of professional standards and procedures, sharing knowledge with others, acting as a mentor and assisting in the development of more junior members of staff.

Skills and Experience:

  • \tDetailed theoretical knowledge of geotechnical engineering / engineering geology and project management principles.
  • \tDemonstrated interpretative and analytical skills, with strong fundamental knowledge of the principles of engineering geology, geological engineering, rock mechanics, seismology and hydrogeology.
  • \tTechnical experience in planning and supervision of geological, geotechnical and hydrogeological investigations; feasibility studies and reports; preparation of parameters for foundation analyses and design, underground excavations and supports, soil and rock slope stability evaluation and support; hydrogeological evaluation and seepage analyses; preparation of technical specifications, geotechnical baseline reports and design drawings.
  • \tDemonstrated understanding of how innovative and practical solutions create client value - can contribute to or apply new or original professional techniques to the design.
  • \tConfident ability in a client facing role promoting technical capabilities and service offerings to clients - consult, recommend and advise in specialty areas.
  • \tPresent appropriate information in a clear and concise manner both orally and in writing.
  • \tExcellent field work and interpersonal skills, practically minded, strong communicator, independent, innovative and with a strong team focus.
  • \tAbility and experience in delivering high quality standards to clients.
  • \tExperience supervising and developing junior engineers.
About You:

Degree qualified in Geology or similar, Masters in Geology / Engineering Geology would be desirable with a commitment to further study and gaining chartership.

This role will require travel (domestic and international) so flexibility and passion for site based work is required, as well as a full drivers licence.
