SA Water is proud to deliver an important and essential service to 1.7 million customers every day. For more than 160 years, we have been working together with South Australians to ensure a reliable supply of safe, clean water and a dependable sewage system.

Based at our well-equipped workshop at Crystal Brook and working primarily in the mid north region and Port Pirie regions, this rare ongoing opportunity is offered to fully qualified and experienced Fabrication tradespeople.

The successful applicant will work within a team of professional fabricators and mechanical fitters to deliver quality fabrication solutions for both construction & capital project delivery. You will also be deployed across the regions to perform both scheduled and breakdown maintenance on all water & waste water infrastructure such as major pipelines, pump stations and treatment plants. You should be comfortable working in both workshop and on-site localities.

To be considered for the role you must be able to demonstrate a firm commitment to Workplace Health & Safety and have a sound understanding of WHS legislation and safe systems of work. The ability to write, interpret and update safety documentation such as JHA & SWMS documents is essential.

To be considered what you need to have :

  • You will possess formal welding trade qualifications
  • Have the ability to weld to a standard that meets or exceeds AS1554 & AS4041 standards.
  • You will have experience fabricating using MMAW, GMAW, FCAW & GTAW.
  • Ideally you will have experience fabricating a variety of materials including aluminium and stainless steel.
  • Experience with welding MSCL and stainless steel pipework is highly desirable as is the possession of formal welding certification.
  • Confined space, fork truck, dogging / rigging and mobile crane certification would also be looked upon favourable.
  • The possession of a current drivers licence is mandatory as is an ability to drive manual vehicles.
  • A HR licence (or higher) would be considered favourably
SA Water provides a critical service to the SA community 24/7/365 and as such the successful applicant will be required to work some overtime with minimal notice and will participate in an emergency on-call after hour's roster after a qualifying period. This position involves both planned and unplanned travel to remote areas of the state and working under limited supervision. Occasional overnight absences away from home will be required to satisfy SA Water's service delivery requirements.

Experience in similar roles within the water industry would be considered favourably.

Uniforms, PPE, mobile phone, laptop and all specialist tools other than basic hand tools will be supplied as will the opportunity for continuous training and development. A fully equipped and maintained take-home service vehicle will be available to the successful applicant after a qualifying period.

Salary range $ 60,471.99 + Superannuation + Allowances + Overtime
