Our Darwin office has an exciting new opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Energy & Resources with experience in power systems and industrial electrical design and documentation.

• Providing technical support to clients
• Undertake technical design and documentation of power (generation T&D and renewables) and industrial projects
• Contribute to the development of GHD’s knowledge and skills in Power Engineering including planning, design, construction and operation
• The development of tender responses and provision of job delivery management.

  • HV reticulation network design for Department of Defence projects (RAAF Darwin, RAAF Tindal)
  • Substation detailed design (primary and secondary) for brownfield and greenfield site (Pine Gap 66 kV)
  • Functional specification for substation works (PWC)
  • Master-planning and power system analysis
• Industrial power
  
  • Lighting assessment and design (Rio Tinto Gove)
  • Electrical design for bore fields (Rio Tinto Gove)
  • HV works - reticulation / OHL (Rio Tinto Gove)

  • 10 MW diesel emergency power station (RAAF Tindal)

What You Will Bring To The Team

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the design of power and industrial projects i.e. power stations, zone substations, water treatment, wastewater pumping and treatment
• Formal qualifications in Electrical Engineering (BEng or equivalent acceptable to Engineers Australia)
• Experience and understanding of current power engineering technologies, including methods of installation, operation and configuration
• Experience with the design of underground and overhead lines
• Co-ordination of plant and plant services electrical works – design and site supervision is desirable
• Experience also in Building Services Design would be advantageous.
