The newly formed Queensland Metals Surface Engineering team covers an extensive asset portfolio including two concentrators and two smelters. We are looking for motivated and talented individuals interested in career defining opportunities that make a difference to the sustainability of our business and the pride and prosperity of our region. We currently have two vacancies for Senior Project Engineers to work with our Concentrator Projects or Smelter Projects departments within the Surface Engineering team. Both roles involve working across Copper and Zn-Pb assets offering very rare breadth of exposure.

You will be responsible for;

• Scoping, design, management of Capital and Operating projects within time and budget,
• Provide regular and accurate project reporting and financial tracking within a well-defined system
• Effective tendering, procurement, and management of project sub-contractors,
• Providing technical support to operating and maintenance departments,
• Mentoring of junior and graduate engineers within the engineering projects team,
• Ensuring compliance with site and statutory standards, leading a multi-disciplinary team of Engineers and Project Supervisors

This is a highly interactive position and you will work closely with our technical records, operations and maintenance teams to execute projects and provide technical support. A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, with mining and/or construction industry experience (typically 5 – 7 years) is essential. Project management experience will be highly regarded. Working within a team environment you will need effective communication skills and be able to complete tasks autonomously. A strong safety culture and work ethic are fundamental to your success in the role. Strong relationship building capacity both internally and externally will allow you to be successful in this positon.

This role is based residentially in Mount Isa on a 5/2 | 4/3 lifestyle roster and of course the family and community benefits of living locally.
