Development Services is shaping a better Moreton Bay by assessing and managing the effects of development on the community and environment of Moreton Bay, working in partnership with the development industry to design and construct infrastructure for the community as well as levying and recovering infrastructure charges to fund new and upgraded major community infrastructure.
About the Opportunity:
As our Landscaping Assessment Officer you will lead the assessment of development applications and provide sound and impartial advice to Council or its delegate, on development matters with low complexity relating to public park infrastructure as well as landscaping works. You will support the coordination of the process by which the assessment of a development takes place as well as the process by which the assessment of compliance with development approvals relating to the construction of public park infrastructure takes place.
In addition, you will:
- liaise with the internal and external stakeholders and senior management as required
- contribute knowledge, prepare reports, procedures, correspondence and represent Council as required
- support the recovery of the cost of infrastructure including negotiation of infrastructure agreements with low complexity.
About you:
We are seeking some who holds a diploma in Landscape Design or other relevant qualification and a Construction Induction Card competency that has been used or obtained within the past 2 years. You will have awareness of the State Planning Policy, the SEQ Regional Plan, the Planning scheme, and the Adopted Infrastructure Charge Resolution.
You will have;
- foundational knowledge of the principles and practices relating to the planning, design and construction of public park infrastructure and landscaping works
- awareness of the planning and development legislation in Queensland
- excellent communication skills both verbally and written with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders
Experience working in Landscaping and design on site - highly desired but not essential.

Work Location
Please note that whilst the current work location for this position is specified above, staff may be required to transfer to any of council's work locations with notice. Council currently has administration offices located at Caboolture, Strathpine and Redcliffe as well as depots, libraries and a range of other facilities located throughout the region.
