The opportunity

The Open Space section within the City Places department has a temporary full-time opportunity for a Senior Landscape Architect to join the team. Reporting to the Coordinator Open Spaces, this position will provide specialist expertise in the capital delivery of landscape architectural works and produce strategic documents and masterplans that will help guide future works across the City of Maribyrnong.

This is a temporary full-time position for a fixed-term period of six months.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce masterplans, strategic documents and associated project scoping and cost estimates to guide future capital project delivery across the City
  • In consultation with the Coordinator Open Space, identify strategic directions and priorities for landscape initiatives that will enhance the built environment and practical ways of achieving them
  • Closely manage the governance and delivery of projects through Council's Project Management Framework, including project planning, scoping, procurement and design
  • Provide professional advice and knowledge in the field of landscape architecture
  • Prepare schematic designs, concept plans and contract documentation for a diverse range of projects
  • Coordinate and conduct extensive community consultation through different mediums and incorporate feedback into design responses
  • Produce professional presentation diagrams, drawings, photomontages, models and comprehensive construction drawing packages in both hand-drawn and computer-generated format
  • Provide expert advice, review and assessment in relation to major planning applications
To be considered for this role, you will have the following:
  • A tertiary qualification in landscape architecture with a minimum of 5 years experience within local / state government or private industry
  • Demonstrated experience in project management including writing project briefs, specifications, producing cost estimates and completing projects within set timeframes and on budget
  • Demonstrated experience in producing drawing packages at all stages of design and particularly construction documentation
  • Highly developed communication and problem-solving skills to produce desired outcomes within multi-disciplinary team environments
  • A current Victorian Driver's Licence
