Job Description

Danfoss is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Sales Engineer with a passion for developing new business and maintaining strong customer relationships with existing customers.

This position is expected to build a strong pipeline to achieve sales growth targets to meet business aspirations.

This role will be based in Sydney, however travel throughout Australia and New Zealand will be required, to secure sales opportunities.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Ownership of strategy, sales and business development in delivering the financial objectives for Heating Segment
  • Responsible for generating sales,grow Pacific market shares and meeting agreed sales targets to ensure sustainable growth.
  • Quote negotiate and close sales deals/orders and projects.
  • Work closely with the sales, technical, operations and other functions in Australia & Asia Pacific region who provide support to sales.
  • Work closely with the Sales Director to assist in business functions like sales forecasting, building strong business pipeline, updating Sales Force (CRM) and other activities as required.
  • Establish a sales budget for assigned customers.
  • Converting technical features into customer benefits (understanding the larger system application of our solution)
  • Develop in-depth customer understanding identifying areas Danfoss can bring greatest value to grow our business share.
  • Identify and build strong business relationship with key contractors & influencers.
  • Lead strategic customer meetings including quarterly review meetings with partners & key customers.
  • Contribution to marketing plan and business development opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain an active opportunity pipeline for all accounts allocated.
  • Active participation in marketing activities (i.e. exhibitions, surveys, etc.)
  • Maintain customer relationships and follow up orders.
  • Manage price to the market as per business guidelines.
  • Prepare and review commercial documents including preliminary proposal, full proposal and contract.


Background & Skills

The ideal candidate possesses these skills.
  • Tertiary qualified in business management &/or engineering field.
  • Technical understanding of heating components and systems.BMS and Hydronic control expertise advantageous.
  • HVAC industry experience is highly regarded.
  • Proven project sales experience within the ‘hydronic heating’ business.
  • Relationship builder with key stakeholders.
  • Strong network of contacts at the highest level.
  • Strategic mindset with good analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English with strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP and Salesforce.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Ability to travel interstate and overseas as required.
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Ability to work with international teams in a global matrix organization.
