Our Underground Tanami Operations is located in one of Australia’s most remote Deserts, the Tanami Desert, 540km north-west of Alice Springs, on Aboriginal freehold land. We offer a competitive remuneration package as well as the opportunity to develop your career in a global company.

Newmont Tanami provides a fully equipped 1200-bed village, 40km from the mine, offering modern leisure facilities to the workforce who FIFO directly from Darwin, Alice Springs, Brisbane and Perth.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Execution Superintendent, The primary role of the Site Civil Supervisor is to provide leadership to a small team that performs concrete batching, crushing, general earthworks and site services.

The role is based in Tanami region of the NT and offers an even time FIFO roster from Perth, Darwin, Alice Springs or Brisbane.

Duties include:

  • Providing leadership and guidance to the Surface works team on a day to day basis.
  • Monitor and maintain materials and resources for activities on Crushing & Batching Plants that operate 24hrs/day.
  • Inspections on crushing and batching plants to identify maintenance required.
  • Use your civil experience to plan and execute work requests.
  • Providing services and assistance to support mining operations.
  • Organize, schedule and resource work requests accordingly so they are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Carrying out cost estimating on materials, equipment and labour required for projects.
  • Daily, weekly and monthly recording and reporting on work tasks.
  • Ensuring all employees, contractors, subcontractors carry out their scope of work to a high quality standard.
The Person
  • Have a strong focus on safety with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • You will have experience in leading and organizing a team that performs earthworks, road maintenance, concreting, general site maintenance, carpentry, batching and crushing duties.
  • Experience with crushing operations and batching would be preferable but not essential.
  • Ability to work within budget constraints.
  • Have the ability to manage a team to work within a defined budget.
  • Ability to develop and maintain work schedules.
  • Ability to think strategically, to express ideas clearly, good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Familiar with SAP.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
