JOB DESCRIPTION

Flexable Force is seeking a Development and Design Engineer for our customerJeumont Electric (JE). Jeumont Electric, is part of the French Altawest Group, a leading global provider of power conversion solutions with tremendous expertise in highly demanding markets such as Nuclear or Naval. Their naval businesses include providing propulsion, power generation, and services for submarines like RAN Collins-class submarines and the future French designed Attack-class submarine submarines being built at Osborne in South Australia.

The position is based in Adelaide. Jeumont Electric Australia (JEA), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jeumont Electric, is committed to one major objective: to design, develop and build main equipment for the Attack Class Submarine program – the largest defence acquisition program Australia has ever undertaken.


Your missions


More specifically, the Development and Design Engineer will:


  • Develop software for propulsion and energy generation applications, human machine interface (HMI), inter-system communication
  • Achieve factory acceptance test, pre-commissioning and commissioning of the propulsion equipment including assembly and disassembly in France and Australia
  • Provide technical support for upcoming team dedicated to commissioning
  • Acquire as you go responsibility for documentation writing, definition files, troubleshooting, and verification of FMEA documents


To be successful the candidate must:


  • Be an Australian citizen or be a permanent resident of Australia with an Australian Defence Security clearance.
  • Currently hold an engineering degree with knowledge in the fields of on-board electronics, real-time kernels, electronics, control, and automation.
  • Demonstrate experience in electronic project development, on-board and automatic computing. Additional knowledge in power electronics and electrical engineering would be highly advantageous.
  • Have a good knowledge in languages for automation, in network, real-time computing, FPGA programming, Linux programming, and simulation in Matlab/Simulink
  • Demonstrate versatility and hands-on approach to combine work in a design office with periods in the test platform and on site.
  • Be able to spend at least a 12 months period of on-the-job training in France (This is pending the program’s timeline).
