The CYMHS Capacity Building Senior Clinician position is a contracted position for two years. It is anticipated that renewal will continue; however, in the unlikely event this does not occur an ongoing Senior Clinician position within the Eastern Health Mental Health Program will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

About the role

Eastern Health’s Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) is seeking a Senior Mental Health Clinician with a passion for improving service pathways and system capacity for vulnerable children, young people and their families.

As the Capacity Building Senior Clinician, you will have a key role in developing collaborative partnerships between school, health and mental health sectors and establishing a wellbeing network which will facilitate information exchange and advice to ensure early identification of children and young people with decreased levels of mental wellbeing and the supports they require.

Key components of the role will include:

  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with key agencies in the education, health and mental health sectors in the Eastern Metropolitan Region

  • Establish, implement and coordinate a Wellbeing Network in the Eastern Metropolitan Region which will enable local collaborative information exchange and advice relating to vulnerable children and young people and identify appropriate support services from early intervention through to specialist services.

  • Lead and participate in collaborative information exchange and advice activities with network partners using a range of approaches including secondary consultation, case conferencing, provision of education and peer support, information dissemination and resource sharing.

  • Directly provide regular and contracted secondary consultation to education, health and welfare services within the eastern region

  • Enhance workforce and community capacity to better identify and respond to the needs of vulnerable children and young people through the wellbeing network
