About the role

This is a permanent full-time role, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The position is located at Council’s Nowra Administration Building and sits with the City Lifestyles directorate.

The advertised salary is based on the grades of the position, comprising of 4 steps within each grade shown. The grade on commencement will be contingent on the successful applicants qualifications and experience as outlined in the job description. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the commencing grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

Duties

Reporting directly to the Manager – Community Connections, the focus of this position is to:

Use a Community Development approach in line with Council’s Strategic direction. Work collaboratively with the community and internally with relevant council stakeholders to promote, deliver and evaluate a range of Community Development projects and activities that enhance the lives of the residents in the Shoalhaven Local Government Area.

This is a grade range position, therefore in accordance with qualifications, accreditation, experience and demonstrated skills, the prospective employee will be assessed as either Grade 8, 9 or 10.

Skills & Experience

This is a grade range position, therefore in accordance with qualifications, accreditation, experience and demonstrated skills, the prospective employee will be assessed as either Grade 9, 10 or 11.

- Grade 8: $65,832 - $73,997

- Grade 9: $71,205 -$82,891

- Grade 10: $78,642 – $90,332

  • Overall demonstrated experience in Community Development with one or more of the following target groups:

    - Women

    - Children

    - Youth

    - Aboriginal people

    - Age

    - People with disability

    - People from culturally diverse backgrounds

  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence

Plus

Grade 8

  • A Certificate 4 in Community Development
  • Minimum 1 year in Community Development regarding target groups listed above

Grade 9

  • A relevant Diploma in in one of the following disciplines:

    - Community Development

    - Social Science

    - Social Work

    - Social Planning

    - Other related fields

  • Minimum 2 year in Community Development regarding target groups listed above
  • 2 years experience working collaboratively with a range of stakeholder groups including Local Government, NSW State and Federal Government Agencies and community organisations to produce projects that benefit communities.

Grade 10

  • Relevant Degree in one of the following disciplines,

- Community Development

- Social Science

- Welfare

- Social Work

- Social Planning

- Other related fields

  • Minimum 2 year in Community Development regarding target groups listed above
  • 3 years experience working collaboratively with a range of stakeholder groups including Local Government, NSW State and Federal Government Agencies and community organisations to produce projects that benefit communities.

This position requires a current NSW Working with Children Check. Applicants are required to apply and pay for this check if not already obtained.
