An Australian based utilities company owned by the state government, requires an experienced Full Stack Engineer for a permanent role in Brisbane. The unit this role is in is both a strategic and operationally focused unit comprising of Trading, Retail, New Energy, Market Outlook and Analytics functions.

The Full Stack Engineer is part of a dedicated cross functional technology team of software and data engineers providing digital services to the Revenue Strategy business unit. As the business transitions through significant market transformation, the Full Stack Engineer is a key team member delivering fit-for-purpose software and technology services that both enable and accelerate this transition in conjunction with agile delivery methods.

As a key member of the team, you will provide full stack agile development, management and support for a suite of in house developed & proprietary applications and related supporting technologies within a high-availability environment. This will include providing services as part of technology enhancements activities and as part of larger technology projects, with a key focus on enabling both short and long term business value.

With strong application development capabilities, you will translate user stories into modern easy to use applications utilising best of breed frameworks and tooling, that support business needs and upcoming opportunities to drive competitive edge within the energy market. You will also assist in continuous improvement and automation activities to improve delivery, CI/CD pipelines and ongoing support performance of our technology and data services, where possible utilising modern cloud services to increase agility and commerciality.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • Bachelors Degree in Software Engineering/Information Technology or Similar;

  • Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, CompTIA etc) well regarded;

  • 5+ years' experience in full stack software development as part of agile teams supporting mission critical production systems (Commodity/energy/financial /trading and/or utility retail/b2b highly regarded);

  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript frameworks, React and/or AngularJS, Typescript and Bootstrap with strong UX/UI principles;

  • Strong server-side experience with NodeJs, PHP or similar;

  • Ability to produce well-structured HTML utilising efficient CSS;

  • Experience designing and building REST APIs;

  • Understanding of cloud database solutions such as Snowflake, as well as traditional services such as SQL, Oracle;

  • Experience with version control, such as in Git. As well as strong working knowledge in Azure DevOps and Atlassian product suites;

  • A commitment to producing high quality and tested solutions with 99.999% availability;

  • Strong continuous improvement mindset and the ability to deliver solutions with optimised lifecycles from cradle to grave;

  • Willingness to learn and apply new methodologies and technologies as required;

  • Bonus Points

  • Good understanding of secure coding best practices
  • Experience in Agile Dev/Ops methodologies, CI/CD, Build/Release pipeline establishment, Automated Testing and Monitoring
  • Understanding of both the regulated and unregulated energy markets within Australia.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce
