Leading Hand High Voltage Electrician

In this role you will have the opportunity to work in a team to safely and effectively partner the business through the George Fisher Engineering Department to continue a high level of support and service throughout the group. This position is a residential role based in Mount Isa and reports directly to the Supervisor – GFM Electrical Install.

The responsibilities entailed in this role include conducting tasks and leading the crew with limited supervision, having the the abilllity to modivate and lead others by example and to assist the supervisor by actting in a leadership capacity for the crew.

You will be trade qualified with the ability to obtain a Queensland Electrical license, having industrial experience including Power Distribution Systems –Instalation of HV & LV equipment & cables, commissioning, testing and maintenance of auxiliary protection systems such as battery charges, protection relays, switchboards, transformers and mining substations.

To be the successful you will demonstrate the Glencore Values, promoting safety practices and procedures when undertaking work, you are reliable and a committed worker and you have the ability to work well within a team environment or with minimal supervision.

You will have a minimum 5 years’ experience in surface or underground mining or the electrical utilities industry. An Advantage will be to have working knowledge of Schneider & Alstom Micom and GE Multilin protection relays; experience in the operation of Omnicron test equipment; with an ability to develop inspection & test plans or the drive to further your career in this area. You will possess effective communication, safety consciousness, drive and commitment and be able to work in a dynamic team environment.
