Welcome to the world’s most international luxury hotel brand and IHG.

Your day to day

As the Director of Engineering you will lead the Engineering function for InterContinental Hayman Island Resort and the Hayman Village. Reporting to the General Manager, you will also work in partnership with other areas of the Resort to continuously drive and identify revenue, product and guest experience enhancement opportunities. You will have experience in Capital Projects Management.

You’ll be an integral member of the management team, overseeing the full scope of the engineering, maintenance, landscaping, sewerage, water treatment and utility operations. You will manage the department's daily activities while you plan and organise work, communicate goals, and schedule employees to ensure proper coverage.

Working to tight deadlines, it’s a fast-paced department that requires strong organisational and collaborative skills, to ensure that brand standards are met and any federal, state, and/or local regulatory requirements are maintained. You’ll also play a key role in creating a positive and productive work environment; building, motivating and upskilling the Engineering department to ensure they are highly engaged.

What we need from you

To be successful in this role you will need to have 3-5 years experience in a similar role within a resort environment, preferably in a large complex property. A degree in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering preferred, support trade diploma acceptable. Proven ability to manage multiple and varying projects is essential alongside excellent communication skills, written and oral with proficiency in English, and computer literacy. You will have the ability to work alongside a team and collaborate with key stakeholders with a sense of urgency. Strategic thinking, the ability to explore new ways of working and an open mind around how we can drive the Resort forward and deliver unrivaled guest journeys will be highly advantageous. Flexibility to work a varied roster including, late evenings, weekends and public holidays in order to support the operation alongside holding Australian work rights is also a must.

You need to show us you care: that you notice the little things that make a difference to guests as well as always looking for ways to improve.

We will give you every opportunity to grow vertically, functionally, geographically, and personally. As part of the IHG family with more than 5,300 hotels in over 100 countries, the world is your oyster - visit www.http://careers.ihg.com to find out more about us.
