About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager Work Health Safety Health and Security, the Work Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for the management of the Work Health and Safety Department including the work health, safety and wellbeing management systems and functions for Calvary Public Hospital Bruce. The position will target best practice levels of safety and legislative compliance in an environment of continuous improvement.
The WHS Advisor will be an experienced operational and strategic subject matter expert who has experiencing in high risk complex environments. The WHS Advisor will have strong interpersonal, negotiating and communication skills as well as strong and successful stakeholder engagement.

What you bring
The WHS Advisor is responsible for undertaking and coordinating a range of work health safety and wellbeing activities, including:
  • Monitor the organisations compliance with WHS policies, legislative requirements, regulations, codes, practices and procedures and ensure WHS Committee meetings address any areas of non-compliance or concern
  • Undertake investigations into WHS incidents and hazards using effective risk management practices to identity corrective actions to minimise harm to workers, patients and visitors
  • Assist with identifying workplace hazards and procedures in liaison with managers and ensure they have safe operating procedures where necessary
  • Assist in the identification, development and promotion of health and wellbeing initiatives across the organisation
  • Liaise with WHS workgroup representatives in matter relating to audit inspections, actions from committee meetings, training etc
  • Arrange WHS training courses as required in liaison with Health and Safety Representatives, employees and the Training Department. Mentor HSR’s in delivering their responsibilities as required, and
  • Support and prepare WHS reporting for Executives on matters across CPHB.
