ABOUT THE COMPANY. 

Established for over 20 years and located in the CBD, this company is one of the largest, privately-owned Building Regulations, Access and Fire Engineering consultancies in Sydney. They partner with some of the most recognised Architects, Builders, Developers and Clients in Australia and employ over 40 staff. 

ABOUT THE POSITION. 

Joining a team of 13 Building Regulations Consultants, you will be responsible for mentoring and supporting Intermediate and Junior Consultants, while ensuring personal targets are achieved. This position offers long term career growth due to the ongoing success and strategic growth plans of the business. The company has been very busy, even throughout Covid, and have plans to grow their team throughout 2021. 

DUTIES. 

  • Assist with delivering services within timeframes, cost and quality
  • Prepare fee proposals and liaise with clients to identify their needs
  • Review, assess and provide recommendations of various stages of developments including out of scope works
  • Attend site visits and client meetings 
  • Provide advice and interpretation of the Access provisions of the Building Regulations and other associated documents. Disability (Access to Premises – Building) Standards 2010
  • Assist in the application of Building Regulations to project design and development
  • Perform fire protection surveys and audits of existing buildings for fire safety upgrading and changes of uses
  • Review appraisals and certification of “Essential Fire Safety Measures”
  • Assist in the selection of materials and construction methods to achieve compliance with the Building Regulations 
  • Prepare Fire Safety Engineering assessments of new and existing buildings
  • Prepare “Alternative Solution” Design verification report

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE. 

  • Over 5 years of experience in a similar position 
  • Intermediate candidates who are ready to take a step up are encouraged to apply 
  • Hold a relevant post-graduate degree, such as the Graduate Diploma of Building Surveying
  • Current Class C drivers license
  • A thorough understanding of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to take ownership and accountability
