JOB DESCRIPTION

IPA Townsville are seeking an experienced Work Health and Safety officer to assist with updating our client's policies for the diving division of their business.

We are looking for someone who is a natural problem solver, a doer and is known for seeing things through.

If you are experienced in relationship and stakeholder management, have an eye for detail and are able to manage competing priorities to a high standard - this could be your dream role! In addition to this, previous experience in managing health and safety management systems and developing procedures, including in relation to diving and snorkelling is essential.

Eligibility requirements and qualification

  • Provide expertise and maintenance of the Authority's work health and safety (WHS) management systems.
  • Working collaboratively, consult and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate compliance with legislation, standards and operating procedures and provide advice on changes to processes and ongoing learning and development to assist with understanding and implementation of the Authority legislative requirements.
  • Maintain and implement the Authority's Dive Operations Manual and ensure compliance with legislation and standards.
  • Deliver and manage special projects, as required, to promote the adherence to relevant legislation, policies and procedures, actively engage in knowledge transfer, and seek input from stakeholders to meet the Authority's legislated requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training and inductions associated with WHS and Dive operations.

Essential qualifications

Be an experienced Occupational Diver (>100 hours)

Be a qualified Dive Supervisor AS2815.1 minimum or suitable equivalent.

Have and maintain a current Dive Medical.

Desirable qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in work health and safety.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
