  • 12 months+ contract

About the Role

WorkPac are seeking a Project Engineer to join Rio Tinto's Sustaining Capital Team on a FIFO 5/2/4/3 roster covering the East Pilbara (West Angeles, Hope Downs and Yandi). The role may also involve some Perth based work, depending on the phase of the project. During shutdowns, work will be required on site throughout the duration of shut, typically lasting 5-7 days.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Lead in executing the projects in various phases of development within sustaining capital.
  • During feasibility study assist in design review process.
  • Liaise with site stakeholders to ensure the works are planned in the scheduled shutdowns.
  • Attend shutdown meetings and ensure work orders are planned in the shutdown Gantt.
  • Be the focal point for the site related activities for the contractor.
  • Manage interfaces with site operations to have the contractors set up for success for implementation.
  • Review technical queries and obtain clarifications from relevant stakeholders/consultants.
  • Monitor contractorâs works progress and ensure they are tracking to schedule.
  • Review/witness any QA/QC checks on ITP.

Skills & Experience


  • Degree qualified in Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Experienced managing SMP construction works for mining projects.
  • Previous site experience required, preferably in a shutdown environment.
  • Able to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • WA C Class Driver's Licence.
