The Role

This newly-created role will play a critical role in LAVO's team in ideating and creating effective metal hydride systems that will form the basis of many of LAVOs world-first, innovative lifestyle products to transform the use of energy in communities.

This role will be crucial in ensuring transformation of technical readiness and the successful optimisation of the hydrogen storage technology for commercial and residential use.

The Chemical Engineer represents an opportunity to contribute and build a centre of excellence with a focus on a sustainable pipeline of innovation and continual improvement with view to larger commercial design.


Your Background

The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional skills and experiences in the following areas:


  • Technical engineering expertise: Proven experience in designing metal hydride systems is a mandatory requirement. Providing oversight for CFD modelling of the fluid dynamics and heat transfer of metal hydride systems. Design and test hydride activation rigs. Utilise PCT and kinetic modelling techniques to establish the basis for process design and optimisation and ability to translate to larger commercial designs.
  • Communication and stakeholder management skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and strong technical and analytical skills, with an acute attention to detail and the ability to conceptualise the 'big picture'. Collect, analyse, and promptly report on data collection, with focus on speed in commercialising technologies from prototyping to commercial scale. Strong stakeholder management skills, and experience working in agile and fast-paced environments with pragmatism, and executing on multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Industry experience and qualifications: An affinity with clean energy and disruptive technology, with experience in hydrogen process knowledge. Degree-qualified in chemical engineering, chemistry or materials science.
