Our Infrastructure Planning West team currently has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer to join their team on a temporary full-time basis until 20th August 2021. This position is based in Toowoomba however this role will look after the region west of Ipswich to Quilpie, Toowoomba south to the New South Wales Boarder and South West to Goondiwindi and Thallon.

As a Civil Engineer you will be responsible for providing professional civil engineering support and advice on engineering issues to improve the reliability of the rail network by ensuring assets are maintained or renewed as required. You will also be responsible for ensuring that remediation works are completed to appropriate engineering standards.

Position Responsibilities:
• Provide advanced civil engineering services to Network Regional West and achieve objectives against specified Key Performance Indicators, taking into account scope, quality, performance, and safety considerations and allocated budgets and timeframes to deliver valuable commercial outcomes 
• Coordinate the development, implementation, maintenance and review of the long term asset management plans
• Certify civil engineering works to ensure that the requirements of professional practice and/or the Quality Management System are met to provide consistent output of civil engineering services and advice, ensure compliance with safety, operational and environmental Legislation, regulations and practices 
• Conduct engineering and technical investigations and prepare reports on asset safety, condition and reliability issues
• Develop and implement predictive asset condition modelling tools with the below rail planning team to improve the reliability and life cycle cost of civil assets
• Ensure technical records, condition data and incident data for the civil assets are maintained up to date and in an accessible form
• Ensure professional integrity and good business approach to civil engineering products delivered to meet operational requirements and deliver valuable commercial outcomes 

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must have the following: 
• Bachelor of Engineering – Civil
• Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) – highly desirable
• Drivers Licence ‘C’ class – desirable
• High level of skill in providing technical / professional civil engineering deliverables
• High level of skill in relationship management including negotiating critical outcomes, problem soling and networking with and influencing key stakeholders
• High level of skill in strategic thinking in long term civil asset maintenance and renewals
• High level analytical skills including root cause failure analysis and whole of life cost benefit analysis
• High level of skill in evaluating and integrating business processes and innovation to deliver commercial advantage and outcomes
• High level of skill in meeting statutory, regulatory and policy obligations

This opportunity is a temporary full-time, fixed-term contract until 20th August 2021. The salary for this role is $110,328 (pro-rata) + superannuation. 

The successful candidate must have the flexibility to travel and work regularly in the Regional West region and have the flexibility to work some overtime and weekends when required.
