About the Project

McConnell Dowell is the constructor within the Western Program Alliance (WPA) which forms part of the Victorian State government's ambitious level crossing removal program. The Alliance brings together the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), and Arup and Mott MacDonald as design partners.

WPA was formed in 2017 and following the successful completion of several major projects, is now focused on delivering the level crossing removals at Werribee (Werribee Street & Cherry Street), Hoppers Crossing (Old Geelong Road) and Cranbourne (the Cranbourne Line Upgrade), as well as developing future works projects.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking applications for the position of Survey Manager to ensure works are set out in such a manner that will enable efficient and timely delivery of the project. You will be responsible for directing and coordinating survey requirements of construction, supervision, quality and commercial teams. The management of surveys for measurement of quality and production records to the timeframes defined by the project scope of works. Overseeing and management of equipment and personnel involved with machine control technologies and 3D computed aided design models. Accountability for the project's survey equipment.

As Survey Manager, you will be accountable for:

  • Implementing pertinent requirements of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) including referenced procedures

  • Updating and maintenance of the Alliance Survey Management Plan and related procedures

  • Ensuring survey data is produced and provided in accordance with Alliance specified standards

  • Ensuring contracted Survey Organisations effectively perform works in accordance with the required Alliance standards

  • Engineering exercises as required; volumes, earthworks, quantity take-offs

  • Providing field survey information to construction staff

  • Organising survey activities to avoid delays to the construction works

Requirements for this role are:

  • Bachelor Degree in Surveying

  • Several years experience as a Qualified Surveyor having worked on large civil infrastructure projects

  • Proven experience working at senior or management level

  • Strong people management experience and leadership skills

  • Ability to plan and achieve work outcomes

  • Experience with various computer and surveying software
