Searson Buck are proud to be partnering with Rare Innovation in their search for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to support current and upcoming projects.

Rare Innovation are a group of professional Engineers, Planners, and Technicians working throughout Tasmania and Australia providing innovative, cost-effective, and buildable solutions for industry, government, and the community.

About the role

You will be responsible for assisting the Director – Civil and Infrastructure in the management of Civil projects from the initial client inquiry or handover from the Company Director through to the completion of the project, including liaison with clients, associated consultants, local authorities, and other statutory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist input into civil engineering tasks, including verification of designs
  • Review of project outcomes and designs from Civil Engineers and Civil Designers
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor works undertaken and check conditions
  • Maintain a knowledge and understanding of trends and technology in civil engineering
  • Provide leadership and technical direction for civil engineering elements of projects undertaken by the company
  • Undertake civil engineering tasks and provide guidance and leadership to civil drafters, including a high level of accuracy and efficiency according to the company standards operation
  • Adhere to company guidelines for task management to ensure works are undertaken and services delivered to the highest possible standard
  • Ensure all aspects of the quality management system are followed
  • Monitor project efficiency by reviewing performance against budget
  • Ensure cost-effective solutions are achieved by providing technical input into and review outputs

Key Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 - 10 years’ experience in concept and detailed designs
  • Extensive civil infrastructure, roads, subdivision, and hydraulic experience
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and Australian Standards
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles of safety in design
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure
  • Competency in one or more civil engineering design software i.e. Civil 3D, 12D, HEC-RAS, MUSIC
  • A Registered Professional Engineer or Chartered Professional Engineer is desirable
