At Transport, we’re passionate about making NSW a better place to live, work and visit. Our vision is to give everyone the freedom to choose how and when they get around, no matter where they live. Right now, we’re delivering a $72.2bn program – the largest Australia has ever seen – to keep people and goods moving, connect communities and shape the future of our cities, centres and regions. At Transport, we’re also committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and flexible workforce, which reflects the community and the customers we serve.

Our organisation – Transport for NSW – is comprised of numerous integrated divisions that focus on achieving community outcomes for the greater good and on putting our customers at the centre and our people at the heart of everything we do.

The Division

The Infrastructure & Place division is a trusted partner to our clients, developing and delivering smart, integrated and sustainable infrastructure and places that are valued by our customers and communities.

The opportunity

We are seeking a Director Estimating to lead the estimating function within Infrastructure & Place. This is a unique opportunity to lead and reform the way in which estimates are produced and concurred for all capital projects. The role encapsulates many broad responsibilities including input to project procurement and delivery strategy. The role is also responsible for leading the development and establishment of performance monitoring metrics designed to assess the implementation and management of estimation standards and procedures to ensure consistent estimation processes and outcomes across projects. This is a key leadership role where an inherent understanding of stakeholder expectations and the development of performance reporting and analysis will add enormous value to project and portfolio outcomes.

The Director Estimating is a key member of the Project Performance leadership team and provides expert advice and performance insights to the Executive and senior managers to inform decision making and ensure high level service delivery to stakeholders. This is a unique and highly visible leadership role, with a reporting line into the Executive Director, Project Performance who has overall oversight and awareness of issues regarding project performance across the Infrastructure & Place division for NSW.

About you

You are an innovative, solutions focused and collaborative leader who gets things done. You will have extensive knowledge and experience in estimating, with an inherent understanding of projects. You will possess strong leadership skills, extensive stakeholder management expertise and the proven ability to enhance project performance across an organisation in a complex, politically and commercially sensitive environment.

The Director Estimating is an influential appointment with a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in the end-to-end delivery of NSW infrastructure and contribute to the creation of a lasting legacy for our state.
