About the role

As the Systems Development Engineer, you will be part of an inclusive team focused on success. The Systems Development Team is part of the Design Engineering division of Airbus Australia Pacific who are responsible and focussed on providing Systems and Avionics modifications or upgrades to our rotary wing airborne platforms

Reporting to the Team Lead Systems Development, you will work closely with your team and internal stakeholders within the Airbus Organisation to develop and deliver design solutions utilising a Systems Engineering design philosophy.

This will include: 

  • Lead, coordinate and support the work effort of the Systems Development Team to ensure that all of the required artefacts are developed and delivered on time.
  • Development of systems architecture and design documents, interface requirements and product specifications.
  • Understanding of customer wants and requirements while translating into robust system level requirements ensuring traceability throughout the design process.
  • Planning, conductance and coordination of activities associated with Avionics upgrades in relation to Through Life Support (TLS) / Sustainment Software builds.
  • Manage and support the design review process.
  • Providing engineering and operational support during entry into service and Through Life Support (TLS)
  • Being innovative in the continuous improvement of systems. 

About you

To be successful in this role, it is a requirement to be able to work in a team environment, have well developed relationship skills as well as good verbal and written skills. You will need to be someone who is able to work autonomously and to tight deadlines and work comfortably in a continuous improvement work environment. The ideal candidate would have a combination of the following:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in a relevant discipline (i.e. Avionics, Electronics or compatible discipline)
  • Experience working on complex systems within a highly regulated industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Systems Engineering lifecycle and processes including functional baseline management, requirement analysis/management and traceability through to system level design/architecture definition/interface analysis/software requirements level etc.
  • Experience of Systems Integration, Validation and Verification.
  • Registered Professional Engineering Status RPEQ (or the ability to obtain this) would be desirable.
  • Confident and open communicator with the ability to convey messages clearly, concisely and persuasively.
  • High degree of personal and professional integrity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and customer satisfaction.
