Engineering Design Trainee

OSMAC Apprenticeships have become one of the largest employers of apprentices and trainees in Queensland, thanks to the performances of our trainees and apprentices. We provide a high level of support for our employees and have achieved one of the highest completion rates in Queensland.

We are currently recruiting for a CAD Trainee who will be joining a design team in an established Electrical Design Company, based in Brisbane’s Southside. Traineeship responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Convert specification, designs into technical plans
  • gathering information to produce drawings and specifications,
  • prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the engineering team
  • you should have hands-on experience/knowledge with computer-aided design (CAD) software and have a genuine interest in the engineering trade
  • Identify potential operational issues and where required redesign products to improve functionality
  • Calculating material and equipment requirements and setting up production methods.
  • Assist with ensuring final designs comply with regulations and quality standards

Candidates will possess:

  • High level of computer literacy
  • Basic computer coding experience would be an advantage
  • Exposure in a CAD environment would be desirable
  • hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • high level math / English (both oral and written)skills
  • excellent attention to detail
  • ability to meet deadlines
  • pride in work and willing to improve
  • strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • excellent time management and organisational skills
