We are looking for standout Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join us and become key members of our growing geotechnical group here in Sydney. In this role with Advisian you will have exposure to local, regional and international projects across the Geosciences Practice.
Please note the advertised position is ideally suited for a professional geotechnical engineer with a keen interest in undertaking challenging designs to require a high degree of creativity combined with technical excellence and desire to push their career to the next level.
In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
- Geotechnical inputs and development of geotechnical solutions for a wide variety of projects. The projects will vary from medium to large scale within mining and infrastructure developments.
- Provide an active role in business development of the local Sydney business and networking within the wider Worley group with a demonstrated previous role to strive for excellence in servicing a variety of internal and external clients.
- Planning, management, and providing support to geotechnical site investigation campaigns carried out by the Worley geotechnical team and liaison with sub-contractors and clients.
- Demonstrated experience to undertake reviews of technical work of routine designs, including engagement with academic institutions on state-of-the-art methodologies for geotechnical design. The successful candidate shall demonstrate a deep understanding of soil and rock mechanics and its application to complex developments including tailings storage facilities, open pit mining and large scale mine infrastructure developments.
- Engineering design calculations using industry leading software to adequately address the project requirements. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in detailed design of ports and maritime infrastructure, dam and tailings engineering and, geotechnical design of public infrastructure assets such as road, highways and bridges.
To be successful in the role you will have:
- A passion for geotechnical engineering and a high degree of technical excellence in both soil and rock mechanics.
- As a minimum requirement the successful candidate will hold an industry recognised Bachelor of Engineering (BEng). It is highly desirable for the candidate to hold a Masters or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from a reputable academic institution.
- Approximately 10 to 15 years of geotechnical engineering experience. Experience in dams, tailings and mining engineering is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – these will be clearly demonstrated in your CV and during the interview process.
- A strong focus on clients and delivery.
- A keen interest in business development.
- An ability and desire to work in and contribute to dynamic and creative teams.
- Previous experience with geotechnical software packages and the latest state of the art constitutive modelling for soil and rock geomechanical aspects.
- An ability to travel regionally and internationally.
- An unrestricted Australian driver’s license.
